Dealing with appeal to labor board

I have a question that hopefully some one can answer. I have hired Obesity Law to fight my ins. company to get approval but have a funny feeling that things are not going to go my way. I have been researching things and all states have a thing called PRIRA which is a patients right to independent review by an unbias third party and can actually make the insurance company pay. My insurance is through a union and is what they consider to be self funded so unfortunately I would have to go through the federal level. They are protected under the ERISA guidelines and I "think" but an not completely sure if they have similar guidelines does anyone know if the department of labor has something for independent review?
