Advice needed, stoma to small, surgery to correct it may be needed

I had severe stomach pain around the mid-section in the front that radiated to the back and on the verge of vomitting a few nights ago, for about 4 hours. I woke up with vomit in my mouth (sorry), and sat up the rest of the night. I never did vomit. I called and talked to the nurse the next day, and the doctor ordered an Upper GI and Small Bowel X-ray. I got a call from the doctor today and he said they have to make 2 openings when doing this surgery. One from the new pouch to the small intestine, and I never understood where the other one was. Does anyone know? He said the opening he made that I didn't understand was too small and he would need to go back in and make it bigger. I had lap surgery, but this would have to be open and I would be in the hospital for 2-3 days. I really don't want to do this. I told him I had been feeling ok since that incident, so he agreed to let me wait until I have the pain again, if I would call him immediately, and not think that the pain will pass. I agreed. Has anyone ever had this done before, and what was the recovery period for this surgery? Thanks for your help.
