I hope this helps someone...

When I came to AMOS, I could not find ONE person who uses my insurance so I decided to post this for those who will come after me with this insurance. I currently have my insurance through Pacific Life and Annuity/Beechstreet in S.C. I got my approval today and am beside myself! I started my present job in Nov. of 2001, received insurance with Pacific Life and Annuity after the initial 90 day wait (Feb.). I started my WLS journey in March 2002, but since I had originally planned to have surgery in Nov., my paperwork was not sent in immediately. PL&A would not allow the paperwork to be faxed so it had to be sent through snail mail. My paperwork was received on July 24th and today, Aug. 6th, I got my answer- through my surgeon's office. I had a lot of questions about this insurance company, but I never got any answers since noone seems to be using them. I just wanted to say that in my case (and I am sure there are different requirements depending on where you have the insurance through), I did not have to show proof of doctor-supervised diets. I do not have major co-morbs, only kneee, ankle and back pain. And I did not have to have a referral from a PCP (good thing because I didn't have one.). Just don't automatically assume that you will be denied if you do not seem to meet the same criteria as others using other insurance companies. I also want to state that some of PL&A's workers are not well trained. On a couple of occasions they had no idea that I had to have approval and I had to tell them my situation when it should have been on the screen in front of them. As it stands right now, I am planning to have my Lap RNY on Sept. 16th. Please email me if you have any questions. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!
