Will I always have to have the shots?

I understand the need for B-12 but was curious if I would need to have the shots for the rest of my life or would there be a point when I could have it in pill or liquid form. And isn't the shot given monthly? The idea of having to go in month after month for the rest of my life seems tedious, but I will do it if I have to...Thanks!
