Breast reduction surgery question

This for a friend, I saw that many mentioned breast reduction so I thought I would post this here for her. My pal had BR and on the underside of her breast at the seam, it looks as if part of her areola is left.. there is discoloration, like nipple or areola color, Is this common? Any thoughts or ideas? Did her surgeon leave nipple and stuff that he should not have? Thanks!
