Which one is better...biotin supplements or biotin shampoo?

I want to try and get a head start on this (eventhough I wont be having surgery for another 2 months). Is one better than the other? And where can I get the shampoo? I;ve asked my hairdresser and Sally's Beauty supply and neither has it.
