I'm having severe pain in one leg with swelling.

I'm still hoping to have surgery, but I need thoughts on this. My right leg feels like it's trying to cramp and is like dead weight sometimes. The pain is constant and by the end of the day it's very swollen. An ultrasound was done last week to check for clots but was negative. The doc said use heat, but it's not helping. I even have pain while sitting. Has anyone else had this? What is it? I'm really scared about this, should I be?
