Do i need to use a CPAP machine?

I looked in the library and still need help. I just found out that I have sleep apnea. I've been called back to the sleep clinic to try a cpap machine. I don't want to go, I hated it the first time plus I have to pay part of each visit and I'd rather save the money for my surgery. I'm hoping surgery will cure me anyway(I should have a date soon) so do I really need to treat it? Do you think my surgeon will make me before he will give me a date?
