Has anyone who has Crohn's Disease had the surgery? And what were the effects?

I have just been diagnosed with Crohn's Disease a couple of months ago. I don't know how or if the surgery will affect that. While it may help because there is actually less food to go through the intestines, I don't know that. Also, if it worsens in later years, the treatment is to surgically remove part of the infected intestine. Can they do that with a shortened intestine? I just need some answers, I would appreciate anything that anyone can tell me. Thanks, people.
