How long is a doctor required to save medical records. What if he dies?
My insurance is Cigna, HMO (Texas). One of the requirements is to have a documented weight loss program in the in the past 5 years for at least 12 weeks. I was on Phen/FEN for 18 months. The doctor that prescribed Phen/Fen to me has expired since. I need those records. I know his wife takes control of that but, there is no way I can find her. Is there some place she would take them? ie: state or county records?? The nurse supervisor at Cigna (Pam Lewis, she is new has only been there for a month..and simply said too bad! That I should go to WW for 12 weeks.) I have submitted copies of the prescriptions filled for that time period and the doctors that filled them.. -- that is not good enough! Iam so frustrated with Dr Huber's nurse - Debbie.. and Cigna I could scream. Originally I had seen Dr. Alexander (his nurse is SOOO awesome..Teresa) and then when I had found out that they discontinued Cigna-- even tho they are in my directory of doctors to choose from)I can see why they discontinued Cigna, I had to go to Dr. Huber-- who is VERY nice, but his nurse... ugh. Pls Help me with any advice... you have or call me! Susan Campbell 972 682 3634 I live in Garland, TX. -- This is how desperate Iam.
