Do most surgeons that do an RNY use a silastic ring?

This is to keep the opening from esophagus to stomach, or stomach to intestine (not sure which) from getting larger. Does this ring ever slip and is it an added risk? What is it attached to? How do advantages compare to risks? Seems like it may be something to go wrong later.
