How did you handle the Anesthesiologist

I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses and I was wondering if anyone had major difficulty discussing the blood issue with the Anesthesiologist. The doctors can say that they don't mind but usually it is the Anesthesiologist who has the final say. Thank you
