Has anyone experienced weight gain after going on birth control.

My doctor suggested to go on the new Seasonale pill to avoid having 12 periods in a year and that way keep my iron levels stable, with this pill you only get 4 periods in a year, however I've gained 12 lbs in 6 months and I'm scared because I'm still eating very little after 4 years since my surgery.
