Will venous insufficiency cause problems with the surgery?

I have read that blod clots sometimes form in the lower extremities due to blood pooling. I was diagnosed with venous insufficiency not too long ago, I have these dark spots all over my lower legs. Anyhow I was wondering if Im at a bigger risk at getting a clot, and if so what can I do to prevent the clots.
