Has anyone ever moved up on a dr's waiting list?

I made an appt. today (4-3-01) and the dr. didn't have an opening until November! I asked to be moved up in the event of cancellations, but I'd like to know if that's likely or unlikely. Now that I've made up my mind, I don't want to wait!
