What can cause my sugery to be cancelled?

My date looms ever closer and I am so excited. My pre-op is the day prior to the surgery and my fear is that something will come up to cancel it (Murphy's Law since I have made so many preparations and all). I meet with a pulmonologist the day prior and again with the surgeon. Has anyone had any conditions that crept up to cause cancellation?
