This is information I thought I would share after my consult w/Dr. Anthone

I saw Dr. Anthone on May 1st and we discussed him performing the DGB/DS on me. He told me that after the surgery that I would have a stomach about the size of a hot dog, and I would still have a natural digestion at the top end. Also told me that the risks of this surgery are embolisms, bleeding or infection and sometimes, but rarely leaks. I had put down a goal weight of 150lbs. He said that because I have been obese for so long that 150 would not be a realistic goal because my bones are thicker and my frame is larger from having to carry around a lot of weight and at 150 I would not look good. We also discussed my past sexual abuse and how that could affect my success with weight loss surgery if I had not dealt with my issues of abuse because sexual abuse victims have a distorted view of their body image and sometimes can't deal with their new bodies. I explained that I had and would get him a letter from my therapist. He said he would accept that for the Psych. Eval. Which will save some money. At the end of the consult he told me that he wanted me to discuss it with my family and let him know if I wanted to go ahead and submit the approval. I told him that I would not have traveled 1200 miles if I wasn't ready. I called his office on May 2nd and requested that they submit for approval. Now all I have to do is be patient and wait for the testing. I am glad I waited and decided to have surgery done by DR. Anthone. I really feal confident in his abilities and comfortable with him.
