Does anyone know why my surgeon might have listed ketchup as forbidden?

I'm not a huge condiment hound, but I do like to have a (little) bit of ketchup in my tuna fish (no, it actually tastes good) and I can't for the life of me figure out why my surgeon lists ketchup as 'not allowed'. Any insights?
