If there is a change in kidney function after wls surgery what is it?

I have an atrophied kidney. The functioning kidney is very large and my kidney function, according to my nephrologist is about 70%. A couple of weeks ago I was told by a physician's assistant in my surgeon's office that I needed to be cleared by the nephrologist for wls because something changes as a result of the surgery. He didn't explain what. I haven't seen anything in the information I've been reading. I know that people waiting for kidney transplant, but who need to lose weight first have had wls.
