If you get a stomach virus how much do you vomit?

I hear alot about people vomiting after surgery for a number of reasons. My question is how much do you vomit if you get a stomach virus or something? Do you have dry heaves after the first time or what. I mean I am one of those terrible people to goes on forever until I am sore. Does this mean when I have such a small stomach I will have more dry heaves than actual production? Does this make since? I hope so.
