Will a possibly life threatening ventral hernia qulify as a comorb.?

I have a ventral hernia the siz of a basketball that no surgeons will touch until I lose 100 lbs. I have gone to the emergency room 2x's for possible incarceration, but luckily was told I have gall stones. I do have joint problems and reflux, but my pcp says other than these issues I am morbidly obese but in relatively good health. I have a bmi of 54. Can I qualify for this surgery? My insurance will pay but requires co-morbs
