How Many Consults Will My Insurance Pay For?

I am going through both my HMO and my PPO insurance (Blue Cross POS). Chances are the HMO will take a long time and give me a hard time. The PPO is easier though more expensive. Before I take a few thousand out of my pocket, I'd like to talk to a few surgeons. The surgeons typically charge around 300.00 for a consult. How many will my PCP refer me to? How many consults will my insurance pay WHILE I have the HMO process going as well?
