Has anyone else had trouble with tomatoes?

Hi, all!! I was wondering if any of you have had problems with tomatoes. I was allowed to try anything in careful moderation (I had a lap RNY on 09-23-02), and had been craving tomatoes. I got a beautiful tomatoe and sliced a thin slice. Two tiny bites into it, I began to feel bad, almost like a really bad cramp or gas pain in the pouch area. About ten minutes later I began vomiting and hurting very badly. Worse than right after surgery. I vomited on and off ( mostly on) for about three hours and we went to the hospital where I began vomiting blood. A little at first and then more and more. They finally got it stopped with Demerol (spelling?) and Phenegran (spelling?). I stayed in the hospital for three days, was in pretty bad pain for the first two. I just knew I had ruined my good surgeon's handiwork, but I hadn't. He thinks maybe a little piece of peel got stuck which started the trouble and led to me tearing my esophagus. Anyone had this happen or heard of it happening to anyone? I am terrified of food now. Please help.
