I had a doctors office tell me that laproscopic surgery isn't good.

I'm looking into having the surgery done but a doctor's office told me that laproscopic surgery isn't a good idea because most people have to have post op surgeries to correct things that go wrong. They then have to be opened up anyway to correct any post op problems. Does anyone have any opinion as to which type is better , the laproscopic or the breast bone insision ?
