Has anyone with clotting problems had a Greenfield Fiilter placed before surgery?

My surgeon insists, and I understand it is for my protection. I DO have a hystery of DVT's and pulmonary emboli post op. HOWEVER,when I was going throught the cancer wars, I was found to have a Leiden Factor V deficiency (a genetic tendency toward sticky, clotting blood) and have been advised by two hemotologist-oncologists NOT to have a filter as it would just gum up. I know this is a long shot, but does anybody know anything about this? Thanks
