Has anyone had severe back pain for 6 months or longer.

I am nine months out from open gastric bypass sugery. At 4 months I developed severe upper back pain. It only hurts when I work. I am a secretary. I can only work part-time. I see my chiropractor every week. He sent me to a pain management specialist who gave me shots of steroids. It has not helped. He is suggesting I get a bone scan. The sugery itself has been stressfull enough without the worry of cancer. I don't have my gallbladder and I have a hernia. Please someone tell me this has happened to them and it will go away someday.
