I have a LAP RNY scheduled on 12/12/01. Should I get a flu shot now?

(Sorry about the repeat question. I didn't post the topic correctly yesterday.) I asked for an RX from my PCP for a flu shot (you have to have one here to get one if you are not a senior). Should I go ahead and get it - I know they take a couple weeks to become effective. I want to protect myself as much as possible pre-op and post-op from getting the flu. What do you guys think?
