How many days in advance at maximum can this be done?

I am scheduled for surgery 8-30-99 and the hospital scheduled my pre-admission testing for 8-26-99. The problem is that I will be away on vacation that week. Is it too far is advance of surgery to request it be rescheduled for 8-20-99, which is 10 days prior to surgery?
