Really bad menstrual pain after open RNY?

My period has been trying to start for the last 3 days and last night I had TERRIBLE back pain and cramps in front. This happened twice last night and both times lasted for about 20 minutes. And now I haven't had any pain since. Has anyone had really bad cramps during their first period after surgery? Does it get better with every subsequent period? Thanks for your help!!
