Is ther a time frame between your endoscopy and surgery or does it not matter?

I had my Endoscopy on August 30th and am scheduled to see the doctor on September 3rd for my surgery date. I was just wondering if there was a time frame the doctors like to work in when scheduling bother procedures. And also did anyone else have trouble with their endoscopy, the medicine would not take affect and I was wake during the whole thing.
