Does anyone know of a good wls cooperative internist insisting on a cardiologist

Grand rapids, Mi??? My surgeon who is across the state is insisting on a Cardiologist clearance prior to my DS. My internist thinks he can do this and is resisting giving me a referral. If he is being this uncooperative now, How will he work with me and my surgeon post op? Any recommendations would be appreciated. thanks
