I think I have type 2 diabetes...will that hurt my seeking wls soon???

I'm afraid to go to my pcp and tell him my blood sugar has been running high--over 170 usually (my husband is diabetic and I use his glucose testing machine). I'm getting to the stage of seeing my surgeon soon, all the paperwork is done, just need to submit to insurance co. Will I possibly have to wait for surgery until my diabetes is "controlled"? I've already waited sooo looong! Or, can the diagnosis actually help me? I already have enough co-morbids to qualify me, I'm sure, and I really don't need another one. But I'll take any help I can get! I just don't want to have any sort of setback right now, not when I'm so close to the finish line. I don't know what to do!?! :(
