What can I do if I have to move soon after surgery?

My surgery date is March 5 with Dr. Celio Burrowes. I am scheduled to leave the US for Turin, Italy April 16 where I will be with my husband until October 31 and then fly back. I am also planning to come back in August for a brief visit. I know that I can't really know until my pre-op visit 2/25, but how often will he want to see me after the surgery? If I am healthy when I leave the US, how likely is it that something godawful will happen and what can I do to prevent it? WORRIED, but don't want to give up the time in Italy.
