How often and how much are you to drink right after surgery?

I am set for surgery on Dec 5th. But my sister had surgery on Nov 5th and I don't think she is drinking enough. She drinks 2 oz. of broth every 1/2 hr. and not really drinking anything else. Maybe a little here and a little there. I thought you were to drink all day. Whether it be water or jello or whatever else. Please help. Thanks in advance!
