Has anyone been denied coverage because of weight?

Two days ago I received a letter from State Farm, along with a refund of the premium that I'd paid, explaining that my application for coverage was denied. Reason - height and weight (5'3" 310#). Has this happened to anyone and do you have any advice. I already feel so discouraged. I don't want this to keep happening to me, because I might need my strength to fight denial for surgery.
