how do you deal with coworkers and a fiance who is not being supportive

My fiance has told he does not want me to have this operation because he thinks I can do by myself. I told him that I have tried but it doesn't work for me. I am having coworkers telling me that I don't need it and that it is a waste of time. I am getting very depressed and sad. I don't know how I should respond to these comments. I know this is my decision and I'm following through with the surgery. I just don't know how to deal with all the negative comments. Please help!!!
