2 weeks post op What can I do for left side shoulder and rib pain?

I started developing shoulder and rib pain in my left side about 2 nights ago. It has kept me from sleeping. I didn't think it was directly related to the wls but after reviewing the library just in case, I read it could be from retractors (what does that mean?) or a leak. I don't think it's a leak because I feel OK otherwise, I don't have a fever or anything. Please shead some light on what causes this, is it common, what can I take to ease the pain (the meds I was sent home on for incision pain wont touch it) and will it eventually go away?
