Does a transected pouch have any influence on possible long term post op weight gain?

I have read everything I can in the library on long term success, and can't help but obsess over the different percentages of regain that I'm seeing. I understand the concept of the RNY gastric bypass being a tool. I also realize it takes my part to use the first yr or so to relearn to eat properly and exercise(I'm preop btw). However, I question my ability to do that as I have never been able to adopt the better eating habits I can manage to stick with for a few months at a time(at best). My surgeon transects the new pouch from the stomach, will this make it harder to regain? I realize this is a multifaceted comment/question and any responses to any of it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
