is the band a lot cheaper?

after reading some of the questions, it seems that the band may be less expensive. is this true? also, can the band be done lap even if your bmi is too high to do the lap rny with some surgeons? my surgeon at wish center won't do lap rny with bmi over 50. thanks in advance for any answers! darci
