Has anyone had an application for medical insurance approved after having surgery?

My husband and I recently applied for a medical insurance policy with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois. We were informed that I am not eligible for coverage due to my medical history of a gastric bypass surgery. Does anyone know of an insurance company that accepts post op patients?
