Need advice on pain control hopefully without meds

I started taking codiene for back pain last year (on an empty stomach) and I'm pretty sure I have an ulcer. Now I'm taking Nexium which seems to be helping. Anyway, to the point of my question. I was using a weed eater around a pond yesterday and slipped on the steep slope. I kept from falling in but I bent my big right toe backwarks towards my foot in the process of not falling. I'm sure I have some codiene and Ibropropene left somewhere, but I'm afraid to take ether. I'm in a fair amount of pain but I can stand. But it sure is'nt pleasant. Anyway, is there anything I can do besides meds to control the pain? (Tylenal never helps so I don't buy it). I suppose I could soak my foot in ice water but I hate the thought of it. I'm sure others here pull "boners" and try to control pain without medicine.(I'm a kultz anyway) If anyone has any ideas I'd appreciate it. My pain is located in the big toe and part way back on my foot. It's a rather big area that hurts. I fear pain meds as they are to rough on my pouch. Heck I need arthritus meds and don't dare take those ether! Thanks.
