Should I cut off my hair before WLS?

I have very long (waist length) hair that is very thick, heavy and all one length. I'm not sure if I can take care of it during the hospital stay and post-op recovery at home. I know that hair-loss is a side effect of the surgery but I think it will be much more noticeable with this length. HELP?!?!?!
