Almost 10 months post op and swallowed a piece of gum!

I know we shouldn't chew gum. I had open RNY just about 10 months ago. I was chewing a piece of Extra gum and accidently swallowed it. This happened about 15 minutes ago. Has this ever happened to anyone else? If so, were you ok? I talked to the docs office and the nurse said if I throw up to go to the ER. I don't feel anything yet, but, what I'm worried about is how it will pass through my system. Should I still try and continue to eat throughout the day like normal? I have been drinking water to try and flush it through. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
