Is Post-Op Teeth & Gums sensitivity common?

I am 12 days post-op & noticed in the hospital, that when I brush my teeth, they are extremely sensitive. It seems to get worse by the day. Does anyone know why this is happening? Please E-mail. THANK YOU!
