Has anyone had blood clots before and having/had surgery?

In 1999, I was diagnosed with a Pulmonary Embolism (blood clot in my lungs). I was in the hospitaa for 5 days and on blood thinners for 6 months after. So far I have not had any other problems, but I am now in the process of having RNY surgery and I am getting scared. Has anyone had blood clots before did okay during and after surgery? What was done to prevent clotting? HELP!!! I am really scared!!
