I will be about 8 weeks out when my vacation is scheduled, will I be able to handle it?

I just got my surgery date of 2/11/2003 and have had planned a vacation out east for spring break. I will be about 8 weeks out and am worried if I will be able to make it. When we go we will be visiting alot of the historical landmark and that requires a lot of walking. Will I be able to handle this amount of walking at such a short time out? Should I post-pone this untill summer? I have a 10 year-old and a 6 year-old so it will have to be around school breaks.
