Pears....Apples.....difference??

I am a pear-shaped woman...I have read in the NIH reports that this surgery is for "apple shaped" people...I sent all my paperwork to my surgeon (he is in another state) and just got approval for surgery from my insuance co. (wahoo!)..just worried..I will not meet my surgeon til day before surgery and worried about being pear instead of apple....does this matter???? Am I just looking for anything that may go wrong???? Thanks!!!
