How long after surgery can we start eating salads and salad dressing?

I was just wondering how long after surgery on our post op diets can we start eating salad and dressing? I am not a salad fanatic or anything, but sometimes it sounds so good. Also what dressing (if any) do you recommend? Thanks! Roshelle
