Is there any reason I can't have a cortizone shot for my hip?

I have alot of pain in my back, right hip and right leg. I have been taking cortisone shots once a month and it helps. It also raises my blood sugar. It's been over 2 months since I've had a shot since I wasn't sure about taking one so close to surgery (Tuesday, May 9). I was sure I could make it without one. Now I'm not so sure. I'm having severe pain and sometimes can't walk. My hip seem to freeze up. I am now thinking about going to get a shot tomorrow so I'll feel like getting ready to go to the hospital. I'm just concerned about the elevated blood sugar and how it will affect my healing process.
