Has Anyone Lost Down, Then Started More Exercise

with some weight lifting and gained weight. I have been lifting weights for about the last 3 weeks and walking a total of 2.5 miles each day. Now getting on the scales I have gained about 7 pounds. I am eating the same, getting all my protein and water in. I know that muscle weighs more than fat but after loosing all that weight it scares me to see the weight coming back. Personally I don't want to stop as I want to stay fit and healthy. Any suggestions on how to get keep it up but stop the weight gain and get the scales going down instead of up??? Thanks so much.
